It’s been a busy summer everywhere around Bude, but for the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, they’ve never had so many people using its fantastic facility.
Membership, IT and PR Manager Josie Pizer of Bude Sea Pool told Bude Life ‘ We’ve been bowled over by how many people are coming to grace our terraces and the water this summer. On Sunday 18th July, the Pool hit record numbers with 1,419 people coming down at some point during the day, and with just under half taking a dip.’
Bude Sea Pool is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, with many locals using it right throughout the year – even when the water temperature drops to around 4 degrees. Josie said ‘ How busy it is depends on the weekends, the weather and, of course, the holidays. The Pool’s very busiest days see on average around 1,000 people coming each day. Don’t let that put you off though, there’s plenty of room for everyone throughout the day and most days it isn’t that busy by any stretch.’
This autumn, Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP) will be hosting two very special fundraising events to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of its taking over the management of Bude Sea Pool on behalf of the community in Bude and surrounding the Pool. The Spot the Artist Exhibition and Auction will be held from 27th-29th October at the Falcon Hotel. These events will make professional art accessible to all and a perfect way to express the love of the sea and what it gives back to us in terms of wellbeing and pleasure. Providing this opportunity in this remote corner of Cornwall will allow the work of renowned artists to be seen by all and with the possibility of maybe even purchasing a piece of professional artwork.
